Research and Writing an Informative Text
Dear students, This week focus on answering your questions about the living organism you are studying.
1. Read on different websites using Kidrex and watching the YouTube videos. 2. Follow the graphic organizer to check to see if you have gathered enough information. 3. Begin to put it all together in your mind and write your rough draft paragraphs. You need 5 paragraphs as shown on the big chart you took home. Use your green research notebook to draft your paragraphs and skip lines so I can help you edit your work when we come back to school. 4. Remember this is facts only - you don't use your opinion in this lap-book that you are making. You only use the facts you found in your research. 5. If you do one paragraph a day, you should be ready to finish your lap-book when we come back to school. 6. Doing independent research and writing prepares you for upper primary - make the commitment to your learning and prove to yourself that you are ready for grade 3! I can't wait to see what you come up with! |

2. Descriptive paragraph to describe the anatomy and appearance.
Check the picture above to review all the questions that help you know what information you need to describe the anatomy and appearance. Use all those facts to write a nice paragraph that tells the reader what your living organism looks like. Describe the features so that the reader can imagine what you are writing. Use descriptive words!. Below is an example of a descriptive paragraph.
This goat stands one meter tall with a healthy strong body. It has four legs with hooves specially designed for rocks and climbing. Its short fur is caramel, brown and white colored. The goat looks for grass with two oval-shaped, golden brown eyes. It uses its long, curved, pointy, brown horns to protect itself. Goats have two small ears on the sides of their heads next to their horns. Also, this goat has a long goatee. Finally, goats have a very short tail.
3. Informative paragraph about the habitat, diet and adaptation.

Once you have answered all those questions, write down the information in your own words to inform the reader about what kind of habitat your living organism needs to survive and where it finds its food.
